Our guests’ highest reviewed riad in Fes. By far.
If there’s a favorite riad in Morocco with our guests over the years, it’s got to be Riad Laaroussa. Could it be because it is one of the very few old palaces in Fes still open to public, the past filtering into the present through those 17th century cedar- wood arcades ? It can certainly rival with the most ornate medersas of Fes. Could it be that here you can sense there is a real connection between staff and owners as well as among the members of the staff ? Rajae and most of the team have been here from the opening. How many owners take their staff out for a fun day of team building once a year ? Or perhaps the size of the rooms and suites ? I mean, when was the last time you stayed in a suite with 8 meter high ceilings ? Some of the bathrooms are the size of a decent room in a hotel in Paris. And it’s almost against common sense to call a 40 square meter room a room… Suites are even bigger and some come with a mezzanine. But that’s because nothing is too much to ask for. Oh, and the other details. 360 degrees views from the roof terrace over all that 1200 year-old medina. Piano in the lounge. Hammam on site. Heated pool with bar, deckchairs and pool side dining. Great Moroccan cuisine. Fred and Cathy, the French and American owners, are often around and so are their four children and two dogs. There may be a couple of other places in Fes which exceed it in terms of luxury, but as far as hospitality and service go, don’t think twice. And here is an interview with Fred, to tell you all about it. Great selection of Moroccan wines on site. Best visited all year round.
