Eden Boutique Hotel
Arguably, Dades Gorges more than needed a luxurious Kasbah. A place where the discerning Morocco traveller could spend an overnight or two on the way from or to the Sahara. Relish in the sundry beauties that the region is teeming with. And while Dar Ahlam is only 1 hour drive away, Eden Boutique Hotel is a distinct affair. To begin with, it is the dream of four brothers born and bread in the area. The various turrets and cubes spread out like a honeycomb, swiftly following the shape of the Dades Gorges ribs, a true architectural marvel.
And what about those views ? The outdoors pool, soon to be complemented by an indoors larger one, opens straight onto the monkey fingers, on the opposite side of the canyon. Before breakfast, venture down into the rivershed, cross the wooden bridge, past the village ladies toiling over their motley carpets. Ford the other bank to come upon the ruined ksar and rove about the monkey fingers, most peculiar stone colossi… But I digress.
The 18 suites ( starting at 39 square meters) are spread in various categories and bedecked with king size beds, radiators and A/C, coffee machine and for most of them, bathtubs.
On a rainy day, if ever there is one, it’s hard to imagine a better place to spend the afternoon than the library, packed with books of all sorts and society games and DVD selection. A selection of choice local and international wines complement the divine cuisine. And here we must pause.
Upon our first visit in 2024 we were positively awed by the refinement of the 5 dish- course gourmet dinner. It came with such marvels as ‘beef fillet’ and ‘mango/ mint sorbet’. On our second visit in June 2026, we were delighted to note that nothing was left wanting. Moha, the cuisine chef, one of the 4 brothers, cut his teeth first in Malaga, Spain and then in various establishments in France. Take it from us. If you don’t stay the night, at least come and dine on site.
If the cocooning from the 40- strong team hasn’t yet overwhelmed you, they can arrange for great treks in the area, to include a walk though the Monkey Fingers ( involving some slight acrobatics) and tea with the local shepherds. Or try a cooking class on site.
Secret tip: surprise your special other with a walk in the backside gardens by night, when all lamps are lit.
