Kasbah Tamnougalt

An eery kasbah in the Draa Valley, for long a stop for caravans to and from the Sahara

This eery kasbah was for centuries a stop for the caravans that came from the Sahara loaded with feathers, ivory, gold and slaves or marched thither laden with Moroccan leather, salt and spices. Commanding the lush palmgrove around it, it is worth a roaming around its shaded passage ways and alleys, without the insisting ‘guides’. A part of it is still inhabited by a few families. Although a restaurants offers its services on site, we would at best recommend having a tea there.
